Thank you for visiting our website. Based on recent biological research, a 1½ year old buck will increase his antler size to 30% of his potential age by 2 ½, 50% of his potential by age 3½, 75% of his potential by age 4½. At age 5½ most bucks will achieve their full potential, some a year later. Usually by age 7½ antler growth will begin to decline in whitetail deer. If you want venison in your freezer take a doe, a proven management tool. But when that 2½ or 3½ year old buck comes by, look at him for what he is, understand what he will be, make your decision, BAG OR BRAG. What Is The Meaning? Do you want to just bag a buck (solid antlers) or do you want a buck to brag about (outlined antlers). My Dad told me many years ago, if everyone would just quit shooting the young bucks there would be a lot of big bucks. Simple but True Why Did I Do This? To give hunter's who can't afford to hunt on managed farms and ranches a better opportunity to see and possibly harvest a bragging size buck. This is a tool you can use to advertise to hunters on the same property you hunt, or if you own property to adjoining land owners. I've talked to many hunters’ that told me, you can't change everybody’s mind. I know that, but with your help I know we could make a difference. I've been told if I don't shoot him someone else will (possibly) but if you do that young buck has no opportunity to mature. I've also heard there is nothing you can do about it. Yes there is, advertise this alternative. I feel if you don't act you don't have a right to complain. Who Deserves To Display This? Anyone who will not compromise his or her standard, and hold out for a certain age class buck. Even if you’re in a state where you know full well passing a 1½ year old may be as good as it gets (1st set of antlers). This is not deer management, it is voluntary hunter management. Thank you for your time. Bob Williamson
